History of Major Arch Diocese of Trivandrum

 

The Malankara Catholic Association (MCA) of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum holds a significant place in the growth and development of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, as Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) is the headquarters of the Church.

Early Beginnings

The roots of MCA in the Major Archieparchy trace back to the establishment of the association in 1935 by Servant of God Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios. Being the heart of the Malankara Catholic Church, Trivandrum played a key role in the early formation and expansion of MCA.

 Growth and Development

  • MCA units were gradually established in various parishes under the Archieparchy
  • The faithful actively participated in strengthening the spiritual and social life of the Church
  • Regular meetings, retreats, and community programs became integral to MCA activities
