HISTORY OF MCA

The Malankara Catholic Association (MCA) is a prominent lay organization of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, established to unite, guide, and empower the laity in spiritual, social, and community-based activities.

Origin and Foundation

The MCA was officially founded in 1935 under the visionary leadership of Servant of God Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, the founder of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church.

  • Its formation came shortly after the reunion movement of 1930, when a group from the Malankara Church entered into communion with the Catholic Church.
  • The need arose for an organized body of lay faithful to support the Church’s mission and strengthen unity among members.
